Zoë Saldaña gave business attire a sheer spin for a special screening of her forthcoming movie “Emilia Pérez” in London on Saturday. The actress stars in the film alongside Selena Gomez and Karla Sofía Gascón.
Saldaña opted for a semi-sheer black blouse with a high neckline and lavallière detailing, courtesy of Saint Laurent. The blouse coordinated with wide-leg, high-waisted, gray checkered trousers.
Saldaña added a belt to her look and favored minimal jewelry accessories. As for her glam, Saldaña’s hair was pulled back into a chignon, save for a few wisps of hair to frame her face. The actress’ makeup featured bold brows and eyes with a classic red lip for an added pop of color to contrast the black and gray tones of her sartorial statement.
Saldaña’s look was curated by stylist Petra Flannery, who’s also worked with Emma Stone and Reese Witherspoon, among others. The look channeled the TikTok-viral office siren trend, which mixes power ’90s- and 2000s-inspired power dressing with a sensual twist.
Saint Laurent has an intimate connection with the cast and creative team behind “Emilia Pérez.” Anthony Vaccarello, the creative director of Saint Laurent since April 2016, aided in the film’s costume design, with Saint Laurent Productions coproducing French director Jacques Audiard’s latest film.
Along with Saldaña, other stars of the film have worn the brand for various red carpet occasions to celebrate the forthcoming film. For the picture’s Cannes Film Festival premiere last May, singer and actress Selena Gomez favored a velvet off-the-shoulder gown. Gascón has also worn designs by Saint Laurent for various events related to the film, including its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival last September.
“Emilia Pérez” is a musical drama that follows desperate lawyer Rita, played by Saldaña, who takes a job to help a notorious cartel boss, played by Gascón, completely disappear. The film debuts on Netflix on Nov. 13.
