Zendaya wore a sparkling Bob Mackie fall 2001 “Foreign Intrigue” couture look on Saturday at the 2024 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony in Cleveland, where she paid tribute to Cher on the red carpet and inducted the artist at the ceremony.
The Mackie look made for the perfect nod to Cher, as she became his muse after he dressed her for her 1967 guest appearance on the Carol Burnett show. The look featured a silk satin trench coat with statement collars and cuffs with gold embroidering consisting of bugle beads and stones.
The gown and focal point of was a nude-illusion halter, which also featured bugle beads that were all applied by hand. The skirt’s gold and silver hues were accented by two long tassels that fell between the leg slit at the front of the dress. The “Challengers” actor accessorized with Christian Louboutin’s So Kate pumps, diamond studs, a diamond ring and stack of bangles. As a final touch, Zendaya wore her long straightened hair behind her, with a deep middle part reminiscent of Cher’s signature hair styling in the ’60s and ’70s.
Curated by her stylist Law Roach, they have had a long streak of successful in method dressing in vintage looks. On the “Dune” press tour, Roach dressed Zendaya in a 1995 Couture Mugler look, which consisted of a cyborg suit with silver metallic paneling and clear plexiglass.
Similarly, for the “Challengers” press tour, Roach took inspiration from the film’s tennis themes and styled a series of outfits tied to the sport.
Other Rock and Roll Hall of Fame included Mary J. Blige, Dave Matthews Band, A Tribe Called Quest, Kool & The Gang, Foreigner, Peter Frampton, Dionne Warwick and Ozzy Osbourne.
