Video of the Week: The AGROS II Autonomous Greenhouse Project

Greenhouse Grower occasionally highlights a video that shines a spotlight on the controlled-environment industry, from crop protection advice to insider views on plant production at greenhouse operations across the country. Have you recently produced a video that you want us to highlight? If so, please send a link to Greenhouse Grower Multimedia Specialist Nick Matysik at [email protected].

In 2024, the Greenhouse Horticulture business unit of Wageningen University & Research (WUR) launched AGROS II, a multi-year project focusing on cultivation through an autonomous platform. With human observers prone to human errors, this path toward an autonomous greenhouse aims to provide consistent and objective data through the platform’s dynamic cameras and sensors. AGROS II is heavily designed around the incorporation of robotics, with said machines then used to make automatic adjustments, as needed, based on the platform’s accumulated data.

Learn more about what type of greenhouse robots are being included and how AGROS II differs from the AGROS I project by watching the following 1-year-in project update video from the WUR team. This video and more from Wageningen can be found hosted on the WUR Glastuinbouw YouTube channel.
