If you’re looking for a holiday gift that will wow the wine lover in your life, look no further than The Thomas Collection, 20189 Cabernet Sauvignon, sold as a limited 3-bottle set. Baldacci Family Vineyards has just released the inaugural vintage of its 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon, crafted from the family’s most-prized estate vineyard blocks in Stags Leap District and Diamond Mountain District in Napa Valley.
THE THOMAS COLLECTION
“I am honored to introduce the inaugural vintage of The Thomas Collection, a limited release that celebrates the past, present and future of our winemaking legacy at Baldacci Family Vineyards,” said Michael Baldacci, winemaker of Baldacci Family Vineyards. The Thomas Collection is named in honor of Michael’s father, Thomas Baldacci. “The profile of The Thomas Collection reflects my father’s bold and dynamic personality—energetic and multi-faceted, much like the wine itself,” he said.
THE THOMAS COLLECTION, CRAFTED EXCLUSIVELY FROM 100% CABERNET SAUVIGNON.
The drive to create a limited release came when Michael harvested grapes in 2018. The 2018 vintage has been one of Napa Valley’s best in the last two decades. The wine itself is perfumed and well-balanced with key flavors including ripe blueberry, blackcurrant, cedar, dark chocolate and cherries.
Michael traveled to the ancient oak forests in France to hand-select oak trees for the barrels in which to age the wine. He then worked with Master Cooper Quinn Roberts of longstanding cooperage partner Tonnellerie Ô to determine a nuanced toasting and barrel finish. The wine aged for 22 months in 100% new French oak and is now ready to enjoy. It will continue to evolve over the next 8-10 years.
