Quinta Brunson Gets Bold in Cobalt Blue Carolina Herrera Gown at the WWD Style Awards 2025

Quinta Brunson made an eye-catching arrival at the inaugural WWD Style Awards on Saturday in Los Angeles at the Four Seasons. The “Abbott Elementary” creator, writer and star wore a bold gown by award recipient, Carolina Herrera creative director Wes Gordon.

Brunson opted for a cobalt blue sleeveless gown from Carolina Herrera’s resort 2025 collection, pairing it with monochromatic pointed toe heels and a silver belt — a departure from the pink belt and pink heels it was shown with on the runway in Mexico City last November. Brunson completed her look with minimal gold huggie hoop earrings.

The actress sat alongside designer Gordon at the WWD Style Awards, where he received the Red Carpet Innovator Award. “I’m lucky I get to stand up here and receive this award,” Gordon told the room at Los Angeles’ Four Seasons hotel, adding, “But, really, it’s a lot of people behind the scenes who make it possible… the amazingly talented women who put them on and make these pieces of fabric into extraordinary dresses. I approach these pieces in the same way I approach our collections, which is just that pretty and beautiful are always our goals. At the end of the day, if we can make something that makes a woman feel powerful and beautiful, it’s a success.”

During his tenure at Carolina Herrera, which began in 2018, Gordon has put his own spin on classic elegance with drama and color. “Color, joy, happiness, optimism, flowers, the things that make Herrera Herrera” are what he identified as Herrera’s “key brand codes” while showing the resort 2025 collection.

Brunson wore another vivid gown by Herrera this past fall when she attended the 2024 Peabody Awards. The Golden Globe-winner wore a floor-length dress courtesy of Carolina Herrera, and paired it with jewelry pieces by Reza.

Brunson is up for another Golden Globe at the 2025 ceremony, which takes place on Sunday evening. She is nominated for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy with her role in “Abbott Elementary.” Hosted by Nikki Glaser, this year’s ceremony returns to The Beverly Hilton hotel at 8 p.m. ET on Jan. 5. The 2025 Golden Globes will be available to watch live on CBS and will be streaming on Paramount+.
