EXCLUSIVE: Melissa and Maldito Collaborate on Cowboy Boots With Parisian, Ultra-feminine Twists

Brazilian footwear brand Melissa and Parisian label Maldito are dipping their toes into the western footwear category with a new collaboration offering an inventive take on the cowboy boot.

Marked at a price of $269 and available in sizes 5-10, the boots in the collection are offered in shiny pink, purple and black options. Maldito’s distinctive take on femininity is applied to the boots, with a wavy bow adorning the shaft. The silhouette also features a pointed toe and inwardly angled low block heel evoking the classic cowboy boot shape.

“The collaboration between Maldito and Melissa is a childhood dream come true,” said Francisco Terra, Maldito founder. “Melissa has always been a key reference in my imagination when it comes to Brazilian pop culture.”

“Melissa is more than just fashion — it’s part of my generation’s collective memory. And working with the  Texas Boot? It couldn’t have been a more perfect match. Exploring and reinterpreting cowboy aesthetics has always been central to my artistic journey and my way of challenging archetypes,” Terra continued. “This collaboration marks the start of my 15-year celebration in fashion, and without a doubt, it’s the greatest gift I could have received.”

Paulo Pedó, director at Melissa, said in a statement, “In fashion, the boldness to break paradigms is what drives us forward. The collaboration with Maldito Paris and Melissa is not just the creation of a product, but a celebration of creative freedom with a keen eye toward the future.”

The collection releases in Brazil on May 20 exclusively on melissa.com.br, and it will hit the U.S. market on June 4 at shopmelissa.com.

The Melissa x Maldito shoes are right in time for renewed interest in western-wear and the cowboy boot as Beyoncé tours her “Cowboy Carter” album. Tecovas, for example, is expanding its retail presence through a partnership with Nordstrom.
