Angelina Jolie made the case for winter-friendly suiting on Saturday in London. The actress attended a screening of her new film “Maria,” in which she portrays legendary opera singer Maria Callas.
Jolie’s full velvet ensemble consisted of a jacket, scoop-neck top and trousers, which she accessorized with round-toe leather boots. The Oscar winner wore her dirty blond tresses straightened, keeping her makeup relatively minimal.
Jolie plays the titular soprano in “Maria,” which had its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival in August. Set in 1970s Paris, the biopic follows the final years of Callas’ life, including her relationship with Greek business magnate Aristotle Onassis.
Callas’ life story is something out of the dramas she starred in. Much of her childhood was spent training, leading to a strained — and later, nonexistent — relationship with her mother. In love, Callas was also unlucky: her husband, Giovanni Battista Meneghini, stole her fortune in their divorce, while her lover of nine years, Onassis, left her for Jackie Kennedy.
